APT sublicenses CIS from Novartis – Novartis acquired the rights to the product through their acquisition of the Chiron Corporation.

Results of the CIS phase II published in New England Journal of Medicine Investigators at the University of Pittsburgh concluded that CIS did not improve the rate of acute rejection, but it did improve survival and extend periods of chronic rejection–free survival (Iacono et al 2006).

FDA issues an approvable letter to Chiron Corporation for cyclosporine inhalation solution – The FDA outlines the requirements for a study to support approval of CIS. APT’s CEO, Dr. Stephen Dilly, was the Chief Medical Officer at Chiron at this time. Several APT team members also worked at Chiron and understand the drug well.
