Stephen
Dilly, M.D., Ph.D
CEO
and President
Member, Board of Directors
Stephen Dilly joined APT as its
CEO and president in April 2006. He has over 20 years
of experience in the biotech space and is well-prepared
to lead APT into its next stage of growth. Stephen
previously served as the Senior Vice President of
Development and Chief Medical Officer for Chiron
BioPharma. He also held executive positions for Genentech
and SmithKline Beecham. Throughout his career, Stephen
has been closely associated with the successful development
and launch of a wide array of important drugs, including:
Kytril, Paxil CR, Kredex, Requip, TNKase, Xolair,
Avastin, Raptiva, Tarceva, Lucentis and Cubicin.
He currently serves on the board of directors for
Avigen, a biopharmaceutical company developing innovative
therapies for neurological conditions. Stephen earned
an M.D. from the University of London in 1982 and
earned a Ph.D in cardiac physiology from the University
of London in 1988.

Howie Raff, Ph.D
COO
Howie Raff brings over 25 years
of biotechnology research and development expertise
to APT. Howie previously served as the Head of West
Coast Operations for The Biologics Consulting Group
and held executive positions for Chiron Corporation,
including the role of Vice President, Development
Management. He also spent 11 years in discovery research
and development for Bristol-Myers Squibb. Howie has
been involved with the development and approval of
several drugs in the U.S. and Europe, including:
CTLA4-lg, Proleukin, Menjugate vaccine and Cubicin.
He earned a Ph.D in immunology from Washington State
University and earned a fellowship from the Howard
Hughes Medical Institute at the University of California – San
Francisco . He currently serves on the board of LifeGen
Technologies a Madison , WI based biotechnology company
focused on discovering gene and biochemical changes
that occur during aging and caloric restriction. |

Charles
Johnson, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer
Charles Johnson joined APT Pharmaceuticals
after thirteen years of leading clinical development
programs at Genentech. As Vice-President and head
of the Immunology and Tissue Repair clinical group
at Genentech from 2004-2007, Charlie was responsible
for successful launches of Rituxan for RA and Lucentis
for Age Related Macular Degeneration and for the
continued development in multiple therapeutic areas
for Pulmozyme, Growth Hormone, Activase/TNKase, Rituxan,
Raptiva and Xolair. He lead the defense of the applications
for approval of Xolair and Raptiva at the FDA. Before
joining Genentech, Charlie was the director of the
Cystic Fibrosis Center at Washington University in
St. Louis. Charlie received his medical degree at
the University of Cape Town in South Africa, gained
Board certification in Pediatrics at the Red Cross
War Memorial Children’s Hospital, and completed
his Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship at Washington
University. He has testified before the Senate Subcommittee
for Health on issues of patient protection in clinical
research. |

Ralph
Niven, MBA, Ph.D.
Chief Technology Officer
Ralph Niven joins APT with almost
two decades of experience, most recently consulting
to biopharmaceutical companies on strategic, organizational
and technical development initiatives. Prior to his
consulting business he was Senior Vice President
of Preclinical Development at Discovery Laboratories
Inc. where he managed the West coast operations of
the company. His team was responsible for several
product candidates that reached clinical development.
His career has also included roles of increasing
responsibility at Amgen, Megabios and Advanced Inhalation
Research (Alkermes). Ralph has authored approximately
50 peer-reviewed articles and holds over 10 patents.
He earned a Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Sciences from
the University of Kentucky and an MBA in healthcare
from George Washington University. |

Amy
Burroughs Nader
Chief Commercial Officer
Head of Business Development
Amy Burroughs Nader joins APT with a wealth of health
care business experience and knowledge in product commercialization.
Prior to APT, Amy spent six years at Genentech in roles
of increasing responsibility. She was most recently the
Commercial Team Leader for the Genentech/Biogen Idec
collaboration in multiple sclerosis which included preparing
for a launch in PPMS and developing a phase III program
in RRMS. Before joining Genentech, Amy was in marketing
leadership roles at ePhysician, American WholeHealth,
Athena Healthcare and Procter & Gamble. Amy earned
her Bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in Computer Science
from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business
School where she graduated as a Baker Scholar. She served
as a fellow at HBS in health care and entrepreneurial
finance under the direction of Regina Herzlinger. |

Sue
Barrowcliffe
Executive Vice President
of Development, Europe
and Global Head of Regulatory Affairs
Sue brings to APT over 20 years
experience in global regulatory affairs and drug
development gained in both large pharma and small
biotech companies. Sue’s previous roles have
included Vice President of Global Product Registration
for SmithKline Beecham, VP European Regulatory Affairs
for Chiron, Director of Drug Development for British
Biotech and CEO pf Pharminox a small start up oncology
company based in the UK. Sue’s experience covers
a wide range of drug development activities from
the start up of clinical trials to global marketing
approval. She has led the registration of a large
number new products across a variety of therapy areas
including anti-infectives, oncology, diabetes , CNS
and cardiovascular. Sue currently also runs her own
regulatory consultancy business as well as remaining
as non-executive director of Pharminox. Sue has a
bachelor’s degree (with honours) in biochemistry
from the University of Sheffield, UK. |

Joe
Melvin
Head of Finance, Planning
& Analysis
Joe Melvin joined APT Pharmaceuticals
in February 2008 as Head of Finance, Planning & Analysis.
He brings to this position more than 10 years of
experience in drug development strategy, market assessment
and finance. Prior to joining APT, Joe was a management
consultant with SDG (now part of IMS Health) for
6 years, during which time he participated in or
led some twenty consulting engagements at more than
a dozen pharmaceutical and biotech clients in the
US, Europe and Japan. The decisions taken by executives
at these companies on Joe’s advice have directly
impacted the treatment options available to tens
of millions of people worldwide. He later joined
Chiron Corporation and was promoted to lead the strategy & planning
function of the company’s $600 million therapeutics
business. Shortly after Chiron’s acquisition
by Novartis, Joe was recruited by Becton, Dickenson & Co.
to spearhead the global diagnostic maker’s
expansion into clinical trials support and “companion
diagnostics.” Joe holds a bachelor’s
degree in engineering from MIT and a MBA from Stanford’s
Graduate School of Business. |

Teresa has many years of administrative
experience in various size companies, from start-ups
to large corporations, chiefly in the pharmaceutical
and computer industries. In addition to Executive
Administrative positions, other titles she has held
include Document Control Specialist for Questcor
Pharmaceuticals, Telecommunications Administrator/Remote
Access for Openwave Systems, Manager of Professional
Services Administration for USoft, and Professional
Services, Manager, Training & Consulting
Programs and Business Manager – Professional Services
for Uniface Corporation. |
